Local Veteran Buys First Home For $9 Through JR Mortgage Group

Here at JR Mortgage Group, we are thankful for the individuals in our community who serve selflessly. Recently, through our Hometown Heroes program, we were able to assist an older couple facing a challenging living situation. 

Recently, loan officer Nick Lassiter helped Sam and Doyce Redden, who had rented their entire lives, into their first home after facing a dire situation in their previous rental.

Sam Redden, a veteran who served in both the Army and the Air Force, now working at local aerospace company Spirit AeroSystems, and his wife Doyce, who had supported him and their growing family throughout the years were renting from a landlord who refused to fix the severe black mold corrupting their home and causing significant health issues. The couple turned to JR Mortgage Group for assistance, and with Lassiter’s experience and dedication, they secured a VA loan to purchase their first home.

The Hometown Heroes program was instrumental in making the Reddens’ dream of owning a home attainable. They were eligible for a $500 check outside of closing, and with total closing costs amounting to $509, the Reddens only had to pay $9 to get into their new home.

The Hometown Heroes program aims to give back to those who serve selflessly, including educators, healthcare professionals, first responders, and current and former military members. It is our way of thanking the community and providing support where needed.
